What do you like most about your profession? My favorite thing is the relationships with the students and players. For some, it might be the only adult influence they have.
What made you choose Westminster? The opportunity to play football and the education program.
What was your major at Westminster? Middle school education.
What organizations outside of work are you involved in? I am part of the St. Vincent de Paul society in Ste. Genevieve. My grandparents work there along with other elderly folk in the area. The pantry gives out food every Thursday in the community to those who need it.
How did your Westminster education help you find your purpose? The education professors at Westminster instilled a passion for teaching in me. They had so many experiences to share with us. The education program also offered numerous opportunities to get into a classroom before student teaching that let me know that this was the right profession for me.
What is your favorite Westminster memory? My favorite is Myles Donnelly coming out of retirement to play in a tennis match to help the school out when they were short some guys.
Which of your achievements are you most proud of? I think I’m most proud of coaching a 7th grade basketball team to a conference tournament championship. We faced some adversity early in the year with a really good player getting hurt for the season, but the team was able to rally and keep their heads up and had a tremendous year that ended with the tournament championship.
Would you recommend Westminster to prospective college students? I would recommend Westminster to prospective college students because of the small class sizes and the professors that take an interest in you. Professors at Westminster don’t just want to teach you, they want to see you succeed in everything you do at college and beyond.
Favorite Westminster faculty member(s)? Every education and English professor I had.
If you could choose any career or job circumstance, what would it be? Actor. I would love to be in the movies.
Last book you read? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Favorite quote? “I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur at some point. If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” – Kurt Vonnegut
Favorite TV show? Supernatural.
What do you do in your free time? Golf.
